Galfan Wire is zinc-aluminum alloy coated Steel Wire with rare earth treatment. The coating is dense, uniform and highly adhesive.

It provides 3–5 times longer service life than hot-dip galvanized wire, featuring superior acid and alkali resistance, anti-corrosion and weather-proof performance. The wire has excellent toughness with no coating peeling or cracking.

Widely used for Gabion Mesh, slope protection, river regulation, garden fence, breeding netting and high-end woven products.

Common diameter: 0.3mm–6.0mm

Galfan Steel Wire (also known as Zinc-Aluminum-Rare Earth Alloy Coated Steel Wire) is a high-performance corrosion-resistant steel wire coated with a zinc-aluminum-rare earth alloy layer through a hot-dip galvanizing process. The product uses the registered trademark Galfan and is widely used in long-term outdoor and water engineering applications.


1. Coating Composition (Two Main Types)

1. 5% Aluminum Galfan Wire (Most Common Engineering Grade)

Composition:

  • 95% Zinc + 5% Aluminum + trace rare earth elements (Cerium and Lanthanum)

Widely used for:

  • Gabion mesh

  • River protection projects

  • Hydraulic engineering applications

2. 10% Aluminum Galfan Wire (High Corrosion Resistance Grade)

Composition:

  • 90% Zinc + 10% Aluminum + rare earth elements

Suitable for:

The core material is usually Q195/Q235 low carbon cold-drawn steel wire, processed through hot-dip alloy coating technology. Compared with ordinary Galvanized Steel Wire, Galfan wire provides significantly improved corrosion resistance.

1. Superior Corrosion Resistance

Galfan steel wire offers 2–5 times higher corrosion resistance than conventional Hot-dip Galvanized Steel Wire.

In coastal areas, river environments, and saline-alkaline soils, its service life can reach 20–30 years, while ordinary galvanized wire typically lasts 5–10 years.

The aluminum element forms a dense aluminum oxide protective film, while zinc provides sacrificial protection. Even when the surface is scratched, the coating continues to slow down corrosion.

2. Excellent Coating Flexibility

The zinc-aluminum alloy coating has much better ductility than pure zinc coatings.

During repeated bending, weaving, and mesh fabrication, the coating remains intact without cracking or peeling, making it ideal for gabion mesh, hexagonal wire mesh, and other processed wire products.

The coating has excellent adhesion and wear resistance.
